Bloodline

 

Jess Lourey is a local to me writer so I was thrilled to get a copy of the book  Bloodline as a Prime first book! It was very different from the first book that I read of hers, a writing craft book called Rewrite Your Life which i. As a huge fan of Ira Levin's work, I definitely saw the influences of books like Rosemary's Baby and Stepford Wives in this story. However it takes its own twist diving into a darker aspects of small town Midwestern life. It is definitely a slow burn but the characters and the setting are so intriguing, making this an irresistible read! I would recommend it if you are looking for an alternative to the more cheery images of small towns this holiday season!
