Becoming Free Indeed

My interest in this book is due to watching the Global Center For Religious research's videos on religious trauma. I never watched the show on the Duggar family and I no longer identify as Christian. However, Jinger's honest perspective on her life growing up in a conservative church embodied a lot of the observations of an abuse of power and the struggles to make sense of the world differently than what she was indoctrinated with. Her frank discussion of her marriage showed how she internalized ideologies that she found problematic.

I have to give her a lot of credit for wanting to look at the Bible more critically and to find a healthier spirituality. However for my personal preferences and intent the conclusion was too heavy on trying to evangelize people into practicing the kind of Christianity that she practiced. But overall, it was well written and a great insight to the trauma that some Christian worldviews can cause.
