Science of Agatha Christie
Science of Agatha Christie was a highly anticipated read for me. I came to I've always been fascinated by Agatha Christie. I have also enjoyed the other books in the "Science of" series. As Meg Hafdahl and Kelly Florence are MN based, I've had the privelege of being able to interact with them multiple times in real life.
This book is a compilation of essays written in a conversational style, making an easy read while juggling projects. Agatha Christie is definitely an author worth studying closely and Science of Agatha Christie is a great place to start! I've read a handful of Agatha Christie books and have been fascinated by her real life disappearance. However, I am aware that there are a lot of her books that I haven't read and facets of her work that I am unaware of.
Meg Hafdahl and Kelly Florence brings the world of Christie's novels to life with a wide range of knowledge. An interview with a chemist about the poisons Christie's storiented and vocabulary used in studying crime are just a few examples of the large reprotoire of research presented. I really appreciated the opportunity to learn more about different aspects of crime such as the impacts of wrongful convictions and the relationship between crime and revenge.
My biggest challenge was the urge to sit down and read all of Christie's books instead of finishing Science of Agatha Christie. If I wasn't resolved to write a review, it would have taken forever to read the full book. But the short essays based around each title will make for a great reference for reading more Agatha Christie in the future. Both newbies to Agatha Christie and fans of Agatha Christie will definitely want to have this book on hand!
Thanks to the authors for my review copy.
