Death In The Downline

Death In The Downline is a murder mystery that occurs in the multi level marketing (MLM) industry. This book made me actually ENJOY reading a cozy mystery again after reading one that rubbed me the wrong way. When I heard that the whole plot was surrounding the day in the life of a MLM I HAD to get my hands on a copy. There just isn't enough fiction on this subject for my personal taste.

The mystery component of this novel does not appear until halfway through the book. However the events that lead up to the murder are extremely entertaining to read. Having learned a lot about MLMs (like in reading Hey Hun and Selling the Dream) I would say that the depictions are very accurate but Abrams manages to keep the tone of the story light hearted and comical. It is obvious that a lot of research went into this novel as the content was reminiscent of the podcasts The Dream and Life After MLM. I haven't read a good piece of fiction about MLMs since Pyramidia and this is one that I definitely would recommend. It is an addicting book you will want to read from start to finish.
