Sweet Tea and Scandals: part 2 and 3
Substitute
Seduction is the second book in the Sweet Tea and Scandals series (which I started
reviewing earlier this week). This book explores the story of London, who was
the society woman that the hero Linc left in Upstairs
Downstairs Baby who was now seeking revenge for being left behind by
targeting his brother, Harrison. For the promise of a revenge story the component
if revenge between the characters does not take place as much as I hoped it
would. The characters had physical chemistry but I felt their relationship
lacked enough tension to keep interest beyond the bedroom. However Cat Schield’s
way of describing the glamor of Charleston and the sex scenes between the
characters were very racy…which brought me back into the novel and gave this
book a 3/5 stars rating for me. When the happily ever after to this story came
around, I was eager to continue reading this series.
So I
quickly dove into the third book, Revenge
With Benefits. This is the story of
a divorcee trying to take down a political campaign and falling in love in the
process. This story is superior to Substitute Seduction. I am aware
that this plot had elements that appealed to my own soft spots: a political campaign that someone wants to sabotage
and a woman who wants to be able to make it on her own financially after a
divorce. Also the sizzling sex scenes
are so much fun to read. Cat Schield’s writing appeals to someone who likes racy sex scenes. I read this one when I was
feeling a little down about a few things in my personal life and stood reminded
how a sexy romance novel is great comfort food…especially if it’s a paperback
that I held in my hand. It is extra special when it is a SIGNED book the
author.
I
received a copy of these books from the author in exchange for an honest
review. I am also posting these reviews on Amazon and Goodreads.
